US Army - Find Active Duty personnel

To find US Army personnel:

WORLD WIDE LOCATOR SERVICE

This service provides military addresses of regular Army active duty soldiers, the Department of Army civilians, or Soldiers' and Sailors' Certificate.
Due to security reasons, the Army has closed their World-Wide Locator Service to the general public. To access the Army locator, you now need an Army Knowledge Online account (that means you need to be a member of the Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserves, Army Retired member, or an Army Dependent).
Other requests to locate active duty Army members are handled on a case-by-case basis. Send your written requests to:

Commander
U.S. Army Enlisted Records & Evaluation Center
ATTN: Locator
8899 East 56th Street
Fort Benjamin Harrison, IN 46249-5301
1-866-771-6357

If you have an emergency and need to contact someone on active duty in the Army, you may call the Total Army Personnel Command Staff Duty Officer at (703) 325-8851. This office has the microfiche of all individuals currently on active duty in the Army. It is available 24 hours a day.

Follow the instructions on http://www.defenselink.mil/faq/pis/PC04MLTR.html to send a letter to the Army WWL to request the address of US Army enlisted personnel

Please note: a fee of $3.50 is charged to private businesses, creditors, friends and profit-making organizations for each address search. The check or money order must be made payable to the Finance Officer, and is not refundable.

- Family members of the individual being searched, state and local government agencies, active/retired military and non-profit organizations are exempt from paying the fee.

Please be sure to check out the web pages for each office prior to sending questions.
The information on obtaining the address of a US Army soldier, is also to be found at:www.defenselink.mil --> FAQ --> Locating service members

The book How to locate Anyone Who is or Has Been in the Military, Eighth Edition by Lt. Col. Richard S. Johnson, Debra Johnson Knox, and Gen. William C. Westmoreland, provides extensive information on how to locate military personnel and veterans and retirees.
